CAM-TOOL Prime+ is a packaged product of "CAM-TOOL Prime" which is a middle range specification for molds with surface modeler integrated type, equipped with the “CAM-TOOL Easy & Smart” option, that allows "anyone" to create high-precision NC data “quickly” “with ease of operation.” In this article, we would like to introduce the features of CAM-TOOL Prime+, focusing on on-site case studies.

Case 1: CAM-TOOL Prime+ application example in resin mold

Based on the 3D data of the molded product from a customer, the mold design is worked on, and as a result of the discussion between the departments, the subject 3D shape is passed to the CAM section.

The possession rate of own CAD/CAM/M/C varies depending on the scale of a company, but many of them seem to have fewer CAM systems than the number of design systems and M/C. This stagnation of work in the CAM section also reduces the machine utilization rate of the factory.

NC data without interference can be processed as it is, but those that are not will be returned to the CAM section once; which not only causes stagnation time for M/C but also the work of the CAM operators to be interrupted.

In addition, from the management's point of view, annual maintenance contract costs are incurred for two systems, CAM systems and NC simulators. Further, they require simulation suitable for the machine, and the more NC simulators there are, the more maintenance contract costs will be for M/C.

The CAM-TOOL series optimizes efficient and safe cutter paths such as air cut deletion and automatic clearance. It also has a function to automatically adjust the feed speed according to the cutting load. This allows the NC data outputted to be processed "safely", "with less tool load" and "stable with the shortest tool overhang length".

Furthermore, since the best NC data suitable for the machine is outputted by one unit, the maintenance contract cost for the NC simulator can be suppressed and the running cost is expected to be greatly reduced.
