Today, Samurai Factory has the opportunity to talk with Thai members of industria (Thailand) Co., Ltd. which is manufacturer and distributor of high performance industrial filter equipment called FILSTAR in Thailand. The more we get to know them, the more we believe in Thai saying “Good college, already half achieving” hold truth!

Everyone:Hello!
Samurai:Thank you for giving us the opportunity to interview, please. Let's start with the first question. Can you explain us your roles at industria?
Chompoo:My role is an Administration. My responsibility is to handle various company documents related to sales and procurement such as quotation, purchasing order. I also correspondence with customer and support sales team with product presentation arrangement.
Samurai:What about you, Khun Pice?
Pice:Yes, I’m a salesperson (laughs). With FILSTAR, it is hard to sell it, we need to do product demonstration for the customer to see how it works. Personally, I find it challenging because FILSTAR is imported from Japan and most of customer never heard of it. I need to demonstrate how it works and show the customer its benefits. Apart from that, I also support Khun Yo with delivery as well.
Yo:I have similar responsibility with Khun Pice but I involve with both sales and engineering departments. I have been in the sales team for over 3 years and I am proud to had the opportunity providing high quality and innovative products to our customers. I was happy every time I delivered FILSTAR products and I am always excited every time to introduce and demonstrate FILSTAR products to new customers.
Samurai:So, you manage the company overall, don’t you?
Yo:Yes, I also have to visit new potential customers as well.
Everyone:Laughs
Samurai:Nick, I heard that you’re been with the industria since the beginning.
Nick:Yes, I am responsible for the company accounting. I oversee the company revenue and expenses including issuing invoice and receipt/ tax invoice for customer payment. In addition, I also organize tax and other matters such as work permit and visa extension.
Samurai:As an accountant, you take care of all the paperwork, right?
Nick:(laughs) Yes, indeed. it is my job to look after the office.
Tag:My responsibility is test related report. FILSTAR products are the filter for industrial plants. The water from the factory need to be tested to find supporting information for the benefits of FILSTAR purchase. Our sales team demonstrates the products and show the customer the differences. I support the team with data and test results.
Samurai:Do you have any problems at work?
Yo:For sales team ... (Thinking) The demo machine is quite heavy. (laughs)
Everyone:(Laughs)
Samurai:Because you have to bring the machine to test at the customer site, isn’t it?
Yo:ใช่ครับ (หัวเราะ) เพราะ FILSTAR ไม่ได้เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ที่เพียงแค่เปิดแคตตาล็อกแล้วสามารถสั่งซื้อได้ ต้องมีการอธิบายก่อนที่จะมีการซื้อ บางทีเพียงแค่อธิบายอย่างเดียวก็ไม่เพียงพอ ต้องมีการสาธิตสินค้าให้ลูกค้าดู จัดทำการทดสอบที่โรงงาน จึงมองว่าปัญหา คือ ความลำบากในการขายมากกว่า อีกทั้ง มูลค่าของผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สูงด้วย เพียงแค่ชมแคตตาล็อก อาจจะไม่สามารถสั่งซื้อได้เลยในทันที
Samurai:This means that finding new customers is a difficult task as well.
Yo:Hmm ... (thinking) Finding new customers is hard. Actually, FILSTAR products have a long life span of 10 years. Therefore, it is necessary to keep looking for new customers all the time. In case repeat customers, only when they install new machine and need a filter. Other than that, they increase their operation, so, they purchase more filters to support the expansion.
Nick:The main problem that I found for my job mostly at the beginning of our company especially the first and second year of our operation. Because our products are new and are not well known in Thai industrial market. So, our business was low and figures in the income statement shown. Then, we were quite worried but now it is gradually improving.
Pice:I think finding new customers is quite hard. Because, until we can reach real user and do presentation of our products, we have to deal with a process of customer company which spend so much time.
Samurai:So, it's quite a challenge to face with unprepared problem and have to deal with it spontaneously.
Pice:Yes, absolutely. We have to handle with both machine and human issues.
Samurai:Facing with a lot of different circumstances is a great learning opportunity. It is also make everyone is close to each other. What is the atmosphere in the work like?
Nick:We love each other
Everyone:(Laughs)
Nick:We love each other like a family, as a brother-sister. The boss is our big brother. Khun Pinyo is the second brother. Everyone is part of a big family. We take care of each other because this is all we got and luckily, we have a kind boss.
Samurai:Look like a great team, everyone enjoy working. Finally, what would you like say before we go?
Nick:If you are looking to find a way to reduce factory maintaining cost? I would recommend FILSTAR products because it is a filter for industrial plants without filters. Therefore, no need to change the filter and replacing filter cost will be safe. Bottom line is FILSTAR is a good choice to reduce expenses for the factory.
