KITAGAWA (THAILAND) Co., Ltd. is a member of "CUBIC PARTNES"*organized by OKUMA TECHNO (THAILAND) LTD.
In cooperation with the company, we provide high value-added machines and solutions to users in Thailand.
*CUBIC PARTNES: Okuma's recommended manufacturers of various peripheral devices carefully selected to help users get the most out of Okuma’s machines. A total of 15 manufacturers of tools, CAD/CAM, measuring instruments, etc. participate in the program.

In this article, we will introduce machining solutions that combines Okuma's machine tools with Kitagawa's chucks and rotary tables with Mr. Tsukuda, a sales engineer at Okuma Techno (Thailand).

Based on the common philosophy of "Mechatronics Integration with Information & Intelligence", we are a collaborative partner in Thailand

Okuma is a rare company in the industry that not only develops machinery but also all peripheral devices, including control units. It is a “machine tool manufacturer of Mechatronics Integration with Information & Intelligence”. Kitagawa develops and manufactures NC rotary tables, robot hands, and power vises, in addition to its signature product, the power chuck, which holds a 60% share of the Japanese domestic market. The company is one of the few manufacturers in the world that develop both chucks and NC rotary tables in-house, which is one of its advantages.

The approach of "providing comprehensive and integrated support for all of our products" by Okuma is a philosophy that is also shared by Kitagawa, and due to the good compatibility of their products, a deep collaboration between the two companies has begun in Thailand. In addition, the ability to provide full maintenance services locally in Thailand and smooth communication between local staff are also highly regarded as advantages.

1) 5-axis machining solution

Okuma “MU-400VII” 5-axis vertical machining center × Kitagawa “VAX125C” flexible clamper for 5-axis M/C

Demand for 5-axis machining has been growing in Thailand over the past few years. It is an ideal solution for machining high-mix, small-lot precision parts where complex shapes and high added value are required. Through the collaboration with Cubic Partners, we are able to facilitate close information sharing among manufacturers, enhancing the simulation functions and providing abundant data to our customers. This is another benefit of using Okuma and Kitagawa combined.

2) Heavy-duty cutting solution

Okuma GENOS “M460-VE” vertical machining center × Kitagawa NC rotary table “MK200” × “JNT Series” scroll chuck x “VQX-N Series” MC power vise

Okuma's GENOS series of machining centers offers high performance at a low price, and the addition of an NC rotary table enables retrofitting to perform machining from multiple directions not possible with conventional machining. Demand for rotary tables is growing in Southeast Asia, as they can be easily added to machines and add value locally in Thailand. Kitagawa has an extensive engineering support system in Thailand, so you can improve the functionality of your machines locally with peace of mind. We also have an abundant inventory in Thailand, enabling us to provide products with short delivery times.

The “MK200” is compact, yet has high clamping force and can withstand heavy-duty cutting, and its strength lies in its ability to perform accurate calculations without being compromised by the rigidity of the machine. This is a solution positioned as an entry-level for 5-axis machining that can easily realize complex shape machining, with a track record of numerous adoptions in combination with Okuma's machinery.

3) High-precision cutting solution

Okuma 1-saddle CNC lathe “LB3000 EXII” × Kitagawa power chuck “BR series”

Okuma's high-end model lathes manufactured in Japan use Kitagawa's signature power chuck BR series, as standard equipment. It is characterized by its ease of machining accuracy and ability to maximize the machining potential of the lathe itself. Because of its high performance, it is a solution that has been installed in Japan and around the world.

"Kitagawa's chucks and rotary tables are highly compatible with our Okuma products, and we can recommend them to our customers with confidence in terms of quality and service. In particular, chucks stand out with outstanding centricity, reproducibility, and repeatability, setting it apart from other manufacturers. We would like to strengthen our collaboration in Thailand as a reliable partner in the future.
