TAKAMAZ MACHINERY EUROPE GmbH will unveil the multi-tasking lathe “XTL-8MYS” to the European market for the first time at EMO Hannover, taking place from September 22 to 26, 2025.
Featuring a 2-spindle, 1-turret configuration with a Y-axis, this machine delivers simple yet high-performance multi-tasking capabilities. It is ideally suited for job shop environments that demand small-lot, high-mix production.
The “XTL-8MYS” comes equipped with a standard sub-spindle, enabling complete front-and-back machining on a single machine. It supports a maximum through-hole diameter of 52 mm on the main spindle and 36 mm on the sub-spindle, with a maximum machining length of approximately 400 mm. The high-rigidity box slide structure ensures stable accuracy and reliable long-duration operation.
Chucks and tool holders are shared with the XT-8M and XT-8MY models, enhancing setup efficiency. The machine’s design also supports the entire Z-axis stroke, offering flexible compatibility with special chucks.
A standout feature for productivity is the BMT55 high-power live tooling turret. It supports tools up to φ20 mm in diameter and accommodates up to 24 tools in total, significantly reducing setup time. Up to 12 live tools can be mounted, with live tooling from WTO and EPPINGER adopted as semi-standard options—meeting a broad range of machining needs in the European market.
The exhibited model will be equipped with a gantry loader (FGH) and stocker (SS), significantly enhancing its automation and labor-saving capabilities. In addition to automatic bar feeding, it supports the supply of forged or cut workpieces via the stocker and can also function as an unloader to discharge finished parts. This flexibility enables the construction of highly adaptable production lines. In response to the evolving needs of the European market, the XTL-8MYS has advanced beyond its original positioning as a mass-production machine. It now delivers outstanding versatility to support high-mix, small-lot manufacturing environments.
It features the intuitive conversational programming function “T-Program Guide,” designed to assist operators in creating machining programs easily. By simply entering the workpiece details, tools, and machining conditions step-by-step, users can generate programs without requiring extensive G-code knowledge. In addition, the system includes comprehensive process editing and tool management functions, significantly reducing setup time and improving overall production efficiency.
At EMO Hannover, TAKAMAZ EU will showcase the “XTL-8MYS” and “XWT-8” under the theme: “Flexible Production System Solutions through Multi-Tasking, Automation, and New Functions.”
In an era where production environments are becoming increasingly diverse and unpredictable, the “XTL-8MYS” stands out as a simple yet highly capable solution.
