At Technoplast (Thailand), we handle epoxy glass— a thermosetting resin renowned for its excellent insulation properties and high strength.
Resin Used as an Insulating Material – Characteristics of Epoxy Glass
Epoxy glass is a laminated material made by impregnating glass fibers with epoxy resin and thermally curing them. It offers high mechanical strength, excellent heat resistance, and superior electrical insulation properties. Common grades include G10 and FR-4. The FR-4 grade is also offered in a highly flame-retardant version compliant with the UL94 V-0 standard, a U.S. flammability rating.
While the standard color is green (jade green), other color options such as black are available upon request.
This epoxy glass is widely used in applications where insulation, dimensional accuracy, and heat resistance are essential—such as electronic components, printed circuit boards, and internal parts of industrial equipment. It offers excellent resistance to warping and allows for high-precision machining, even with thin sheets.
Compared to Bakelite, epoxy glass provides significantly higher heat resistance (approximately 180°C for epoxy vs. about 130°C for Bakelite) and superior electrical insulation properties. It also exhibits lower thermal shrinkage and reduced warping after molding, making it an ideal material for manufacturing precision components.
While epoxy glass offers outstanding performance, its high hardness can make it prone to chipping under impact or bending stress. Additionally, the material generates fine dust during machining, which can pose risks to both operators and equipment. As a result, some manufacturers hesitate to handle it. However, Technoplast (Thailand) is fully equipped with appropriate dust collection systems and has accumulated extensive expertise through years of experience.
At Technoplast, we have many years of experience in machining epoxy glass and boast an extensive track record in manufacturing a wide variety of components. By leveraging our in-depth knowledge and machining center capabilities, we consistently deliver high-quality products with dependable lead times. From material selection to precision machining and final delivery, we provide end-to-end support tailored to your needs. In environments where superior insulation and heat resistance are essential, epoxy glass offers a highly reliable solution. Technoplast maximizes the material’s potential through high-precision processing, ensuring we meet the most demanding customer requirements.
