Tomas Tech provides IT systems for Japanese manufacturers in Thailand. They specialize in constructing custom-ordered systems that meet customers' on-site issues. This time, We would like to introduce a case study of UEDA PLASTIC (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (UPT), which introduced a system using the stock management system "PEGASUS", which is increasing its track record in Thailand as the company's product.

Implement custom order stock management and molding machine operation management according to on-site processes

UPT is engaged in processing and manufacturing of plastic parts such as injection molding of thermoplastics and decoration of resin products in Thailand. They handle a wide variety of products, from parts for automobiles and motorcycles to stationery. Managing Director Mr. Iijima was looking for an optimal stock management system and operation status management system in order to manage traceability and further improve productivity.

 <Issues>
・Eliminate manual input of handwritten daily report data
・Want to manage production information in real time
・Want to prevent human errors due to handwriting and manual input

As a result of comparing multiple system companies, we chose PEGASUS as the core system and customized it while incorporating various requests.

Both are customized based on PEGASUS

■ Stock Management System
Management of history information from material receipt/production input to product shipment. In the event of a defect, the lot can be identified easily and quickly.

■ Operation Management System (Linked to smart watch)
Manage the operation status of the molding machine and the number of completed production. The real-time operation status can be grasped, and a system that can respond immediately in the event of an abnormality has been established. It‘s linked with a smart watch, so it can receive notifications even when worker are away.

▲Utilization of the stock management system on-site

Aiming for an easy-to-use system for field staff

What we should be careful about in the manufacturing industry is a system that is convenient for management and the accounting department, but is a heavy operational burden for on-site staff. That's the point.

■Pay attention to the mismatch between work site and system
・The functions of the system don‘t match the actual business
・There are many functions, but there are many functions that are not actually used
・It’s difficult to operate and it takes time to learn
・Since the introduction of the system, the work has become more complicated.

Mr. Iijima said that the reason why he chose Tomas Tech is the flexibility that eliminates these concerns.

"We wanted to focus on only the functions we needed and remove the ones we didn't need. Tomas Tech's ability to flexibly add and change functions according to our business was the deciding factor for us." However, I have long felt that changing the on-site work in order to use the system would be in the opposite order. Tomas Tech is designed according to our manufacturing process, so it can be said that it is a system that is easy to operate for on-site staff and has a small operational burden. During the development process, we always listened to the opinions of the on-site staff and aimed for something that would be easy for them to use.” (UPT Mr. Iijima)

By introducing operation management system + smart watch Aiming for further operational efficiency

Currently, the company has introduced a smart watch as an option for the operation management system, and is conducting a test operation of a solution that allows site managers to remotely monitor the operation status of processing machines. In the future, there are plans to implement it on all aircraft, and the desire to further improve work efficiency is increasing.

▲State of operation management system & Smart watch operation

“PEGASUS is a highly flexible platform. Custom development requires more effort than selling packaged software, but our mission is to spare no effort and solve the unique challenges of each customer. This time, I was able to come into contact with the know-how that Mr. Iijima has supervised on site, and it was a great learning experience. I’m honored to be able to systematize it." (Mr. Nozaki, Tomas Tech)

"It has problems with existing package software operation."
"It doesn’t know how to choose the best system."
"It wants to make business more efficient."

They believe that a system company that can thoroughly solve problems at the manufacturing site is suitable as a reliable system partner.
