Hydraulic, compressed air, and electric power are the most common power sources for clamping devices. However, conventional hydraulic clamps and pneumatic clamps are powered by hydraulic pumps or compressors, which consume large amounts of electricity and impose an environmental burden. Depending on the site, these power sources may not be available.

This is why we developed the “Smart Series”, a clamping device that achieves its goal with any power source. This article introduces its features and advantages.


What is the "Smart Series" clamping device for FA equipment and industrial robots?

The "Smart Series" developed by Kosmek Ltd. is a series of clamp products that can fit any application regardless of the power source.

Depending on your needs, it can be operated hydraulic-free, air-free or all-electric.

Location Clamp | Model KSL
Instant pallet positioning and clamping.
Pallets and fixtures can be easily changed in a short time, eliminating the time required for fixing, positioning, and accuracy inspection, as well as variations by operators. Also suitable for automated pallet changeover. Clamping force: 50N, Locating Repeatability: 0.01mm


Hole Clamp | Model KSH
Grips and clamps a work hole by lining it up.
Since it grips the inside of the hole, it can approach the periphery (5 sides) of the workpiece.
It can be used for various purposes such as inspection, assembly, and transportation.
Gripping force: 50N
Applicable workpiece hole diameters (±0.3): φ6 / φ6.5 / φ7 / φ7.5 / φ8 / φ8.5 / φ9 / φ9.5 / φ10


Ball Lock Cylinder | Model KSA
Holds and transports pallets, plates, etc.
Steel balls (ball lock) provide strong holding while being lightweight and space-saving. This solves the problems of robot hands, which are heavy and impair payload, and suction pads which have insufficient suction force.
Gripping force (pulling capacity): 50N, Weight: Approx. 35g


Swing Clamp | Model KSS
The lever descends as it swings to clamp a workpiece.
It can be used for workpiece clamping during assembly, machining, and inspection processes as well as for workpiece clamping on equipment and as a robot hand.
Swing stroke: 5mm (Full stroke 10.2mm)
Swing completion position repeatability: ±1°


Compatible with hydraulic-less, airless, and all-electric

The Smart Series was developed against the backdrop of the times when environmental measures are required at manufacturing sites, such as carbon neutrality and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). It can achieve its purpose using various power sources such as hydraulic-less, airless, all-electric, and drive-source-free options, the most suitable method according to the specific on-site requirements.

Even at sites with harsh working conditions, such as those where neither hydraulic nor pneumatic pressure can be used, the Smart Series is expected to be the key to promoting automation.
