This demo shows appearance inspection of the surface of a coin cell battery (CR2032) using AI-DefFinder, ViSCO's own AI vision inspection tool.
In this demo, the camera captures the coin cell battery surface, which has a regular pattern of small bumps. AI-DefFinder then finds small defects such as contamination and scratches.
The surface of a coin cell battery has a regular bump pattern. The pattern itself is always the same, but the battery is round, so its orientation (rotation angle) changes every time it is conveyed. Traditional rule-based vision inspection assumes that a fixed pattern is always in a fixed position. Because of this, it often reads the pattern or the texture itself as a defect and rejects good parts (false rejects).

Why Patterned Surfaces Are Difficult to Inspect
