In current news, the Thai Yazaki network service is preparing a new service of telematics "iQsan" which will deploy in Thailand. We will introduce the transportation quality control system using RFID (Radio Frequency Identifier) technology.
※Yazaki Energy System is promoting development of this system, and we plan to start service in Thailand from June this year.
The tags which we provide are the active type with a built-in battery, which can not only collect ID information but also data about the temperature and shock value can be gathered together. Tag data can be gathered by a dedicated receiver, and by linking with iQsan, data confirmation becomes possible in real time even from vehicles traveling remotely.
In the past vehicle operation equipment was an established system mainly aimed at managing "vehicles" and "drivers", but from now on, IoT technology will be used to gather information on "things". Using these data, the efficiency of logistics and improvement of transportation quality are expected. Currently, we are promoting preparation of the package-type services including "smart pallets" incorporating tags in UPR corporation's pallets.
In developing the RFID tag system in Thailand, we have received cooperation in the system development, the operation advice, and the various demonstration tests. Mr. Ohara, General Manager of AB Logistics, the Thai local corporation of Ajinomoto Logistics, interviewed about the business development in Thailand and expectations for future systems.

Our company started business in 2000 in Ajinomoto Logistics as a local affiliate in Thailand. Currently, we have developed five logistics centers in Thailand, and we are doing storage and delivery business and import / export business in 3 temperature zones (normal temperature, constant temperature, low temperature). We mainly deal with consumer goods such as foods and toiletries, processed goods of agricultural products, packaging materials, and etcetera, mainly in products of the Ajinomoto Group in Thailand, and we are expanding our business by actively developing new customers.
Due to further expansion of the modern trade business style and improvement of logistics functions of the wholesale business style, the delivery conditions are increasingly demanding and diversifying. Specifically, there are delivery limits of expiration dates, time designation, the spread of forklift and pallets to medium and small wholesalers who handle separate items primarily, etc. Also, as the movement of people and goods with neighboring countries is accelerating, the increase in cross-border transport opportunities is also regarded as a major change.
Movement is also seen in the part of regulations, and we, as business people, are required to respond to demands for operation management equipment GPS for vehicles with more than ten wheels, legislating the sales company seal, standard change of triangular reflective plate, and etc..
For improvement of transportation quality at our company, we are promoting the strengthening of management and visualization by utilizing digital tachograph in conventional laymen vehicles/operation management work. Among them, we are paying close attention to confirming the fuel consumption data, confirming the driving quality effect after driver training, watching carefully the temperature record management which was synchronized with the driving daily report, and other important information. By pre-registering the location data of the delivery place, we clarify the daily route by data and use it verification. In addition, we collect data from vehicle fuel sensors and utilize the alert function to help prevent fraud (deterrent effect).
We are recognizing the information in the warehouse, especially vibration data and data management at this time is important. We are expectantly looking from the viewpoint of visualizing the quality of cross-border transport. For systems using RFID tags, these data can be collected and recorded, so I think that it can be utilized to improve transportation quality. Operation management equipment like iQsan is able to collect data about situations of dangerous driving every day. But by sharing the dangerous points using such big data, it would also be possible to improve safety more. We are also expecting the spread of inexpensive drive recorders that can record images.
