[Thailand / Measuring Instruments] ‘Battery Tester’ and ‘Memory HiLogger

10/03/2021
Masato Kiyono
Supervisor

This is Kiyono from Nihon Denkei (Thailand). Like the large-capacity smart AC / DC programmable power supply of Kikusui Electronics introduced last time, HIOKI's Battery Testers and Memory HiLoggers are indispensable for tasks such as the development of electric vehicles (EVs). Let me introduce these products along with Mr. Shunsuke Yoshida of HIOKI Singapore’s Thailand Representative Office.

HIOKI "Battery HiTester BT3561A / BT3562A / BT3563A" for measuring internal resistance and voltage of in-vehicle batteries

"For example, an EV battery is made up (modularized) of hundreds to thousands of ‘battery cells’. If there is a cell with large internal resistance or a deterioration, that cell becomes a bottleneck, limiting battery capacity. In particular, the performance of the battery pack is rapidly degraded by the control of the BMS (Battery Management System), which attempts to protect degraded and depleted cells from overcharging and over-discharging. Battery quality is improved by selecting cells so that all cells have uniform internal resistance and deteriorate uniformly.

HIOKI's battery testers are recommended for the development and production of large-capacity batteries such as for EVs, electric boats and ESS (storage systems), small batteries such as for smartphones and smart watches, and batteries that require stable performance and safety. (Mr. Yoshida) "

◆Key Features of the battery measuring instrument "Battery HiTester"

① Simultaneous measurement of internal resistance (IR) and open circuit voltage (OCV) of various batteries at high speed and with high accuracy.
② Overwhelming market share of battery manufacturers around the world
③ The tolerance of path resistance (wiring resistance and contact resistance) is higher than that of conventional models, and it is resistant to noise.
④ Continue stable operation even if the path resistance increases due to deterioration of probe and relay
⑤ LAN is equipped as standard. Easy connection with control devices such as PLC
⑥ Antistatic measures during battery transport further improve static resistance

Ideal for wireless multi-channel measurement of temperature, stress and load of moving parts, and strain measurement of brakes and pipes.

HIOKI "Memory HiLogger LR8450 / LR8450-01 (wireless LAN model)"

Memory High Loggers LR8450 และ LR8450-01 are portable data loggers released in 2020 that can collect data wirelessly. Measured values of "temperature", "voltage", "strain", "humidity", and "resistance" of automobiles, agricultural machineries, construction machineries, batteries, etc. can be recorded. With the wireless unit, it is possible to easily collect data wirelessly on difficult-to-route, narrow, and dispersed locations, with routing sensors such as thermocouples and strain gauges neatly arranged. There is no need to drill a hole in the wall between the test room and the monitoring room.

Various measurement units such as voltage/temperature units and strain units can be freely selected according to the application. The LR8450-01 can communicate up to 11 units, direct connection units and wireless units combined, allowing measurement of up to 330 channels with a single unit. (Mr. Yoshida)"

◆ Key Features of Memory HiLogger LR8450 / LR8450-01

① A wireless data logger that can "shorten time" and "reduce cost" of wiring works such as thermocouples and strain gauges.
② Easy measurement in places where wiring is difficult, such as in the engine bay of a car, under the ceiling or under the floor, or in a thermostatic chamber.
③ Sampling of multiple channels at up to 1ms for both wired and wireless
④ 1ms measurement completes dynamic strain measurement on the car chassis and brakes with just one unit
⑤ Expandable to 330ch freely with a plug-in or wirelessly.
⑥ Measurement of output voltage of various sensors such as battery voltage fluctuation and pressure by 1ms sampling.
⑦ Stable measurement even around high voltage and high frequency, such as inverters, greatly reducing the influence of noise
