In quality control at manufacturing sites, identifying the source of fine contaminants (foreign particles) within cleanrooms has long been a major challenge, often requiring significant time and cost for root cause analysis.
In this article, we introduce Particle Lab’s “Contamination Visualization System” — the world’s first system that allows visual detection of contaminants without using lasers, enabling instant identification of contamination sources safely and efficiently.
Particle Lab is a company that leverages optical and image processing technologies to make fine particles and contaminants visible. Supporting quality assurance in high-precision industries such as semiconductors and batteries, the company has earned high praise from clients who manage particulate contamination in cleanrooms using its reliable optical systems.
The Contamination Visualization System (CVS) developed by Particle Lab is the world’s first system that enables visual detection of fine contaminants (1–50 µm) in cleanrooms without using lasers. Unlike conventional particle counters, this system can visualize and identify the source of contamination, contributing to quality improvement, productivity enhancement, and cost reduction in fields such as electronics, batteries, and coating processes.
By using newly developed LDP fluorescent light, the system achieves visualization without the need for lasers.

The LDP light source is a broadband light emitter with wavelengths between 500–700 nm. Because scattering occurs at multiple wavelengths depending on the size and material of the particles, the overall scattering intensity increases, enhancing particle contrast. Moreover, by evenly illuminating various particle size ranges across wavelengths, the system reduces bias caused by size dependency, enabling visualization of more particles. Since the light is low-coherence, speckle noise does not occur, allowing weak scattered light to be clearly captured against a smooth background. Its emission range matches the camera’s high-sensitivity region (500–700 nm), enabling efficient detection and a high S/N ratio for crystal-clear particle visualization.
【Key Features】
✓ Improved safety through non-laser light source
Eliminates the safety concerns of traditional laser-based systems, making contamination visualization easier and safer.
✓ Compatible with smartphones and digital cameras
No special imaging device required — both video and still images can be recorded, ensuring excellent usability in on-site operations.
✓ No darkroom needed — easy to deploy on-site
The built-in light source detects reflected and scattered light, making it suitable for typical factory environments.
【Highlights】 The “Contamination Visualization System” provides a complete contamination management solution that covers all potential sources including factory facilities, air-conditioning systems, production equipment interiors, jigs, conveyors, work processes, and even operators.
By identifying the responsible areas and clarifying accountability, the system enables fundamental problem-solving, contributing to both defect rate reduction and profitability improvement.
Furthermore, when combined with Intechno’s “PartSens” surface cleanliness monitor, it becomes a total solution for comprehensive contamination management within cleanrooms. At Ryokosha Vietnam, we not only offer visualization tools for detecting contaminants but also provide precision instruments for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
From contaminant detection to root-cause identification and analytical evaluation, we deliver complete one-stop support. A wide range of equipment is available to meet the unique challenges and requirements of each production site.
This system represents a major step forward — from simply counting particles to visually understanding contamination.
For companies striving to achieve both quality improvement and cost reduction, Particle Lab’s Contamination Visualization System is a truly reliable and cutting-edge solution.

▲ Fine particles can now be visually detected without using Class 4 lasers — even smartphone capture on-site is possible.

▲ With one of the smallest camera and light head units in the industry, the system can be installed in tight or localized clean areas.

▲ Equipped with five real-time image processing modes, enabling detection of submicron particles that are otherwise difficult to see through image interpolation.
✓ From “counting” to “locating the source”
Unlike conventional counters that only quantify contaminants, this system allows direct visual observation — enabling instant identification and action on the contamination source.
✓ Applicable across multiple industries
Ideal for any cleanroom environment — from precision equipment and electronic components to medical device manufacturing.
