"A report from the administrative agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has demonstrated that hypochlorous acid water is also effective against COVID-19. It has been proven that the virus is inactivated at a rate of more than 99.99% by exposure to hypochlorous acid solution of about 35 ppm for 20 seconds, and it has been proven that inactivation is certainly possible at 200 ppm even against samples with higher viral concentrations*1. From this, it can be seen that corona-virus disinfection can be reliably performed in a very short time with hypochlorous acid solution having a concentration of 100 to 200 ppm for normal usage.
" On the other hand, if alcohol is used, the ethanol solution at a certain concentration or higher has to be firmly volatilized after wetting. In addition, non-envelope viruses such as norovirus and rotavirus cannot be sufficiently inactivated by alcohol.
Compared to commercially available hypochlorous acid solution, which is only about 30 to 35 ppm, the hypochlorous acid solution produced by ViruClear has an effective chlorine concentration of 200 ppm. It is 80 times more capable than a typical kitchen bleach (sodium hypochlorite solution) with the same chlorine concentration, "says President Mr. Yamada.
