Recommended for wastewater regulation measures in industrial parks that are being reviewed in Thailand DKK-TOA's water quality measurement solutions

Compared to Japan, Thailand has looser regulations on industrial wastewater, but as part of its SDGs and environmental initiatives, there has been a movement to review the quality control of industrial wastewater treatment. Due to the laxity of regulations, water quality testing of industrial wastewater has not been very thorough, especially among Thai local factories, but it is standard for Japanese-affiliated factories to conduct strict water quality tests before discharging wastewater. In this article, we will introduce the portable water quality meter of DKK-TOA Corporation together with Mr. Fujimoto, the company's sales representative.

Portable multi-water-quality meter: Cost-effective signature product

DKK-TOA is a comprehensive measuring instrument manufacturer established in 1944. Based on measurement technologies for "Water / Air /Gases / Health", the company is engaged in a wide range of instruments from environmental measurement to chemical analysis. Among them, it has a high market share in the field of water quality meters, and is particularly well known for its portable water quality meters. The company currently has overseas distributors in 17 countries, and the performance is growing, especially in Asia.

"The ‘Mylana’ P40 series portable multi-water-quality meter is compact and can be easily used outdoors, yet covers all the inspection items necessary for basic water quality testing. It features high cost-performance, as both 1-channel and 2-channel probes are available, allowing the user to select the specifications according to the required inspection items. It can be used in a wide range of applications, from industrial wastewater testing at factories to research institutes and water purification plants," says Mr. Fujimoto of DKK-TOA."

【Features of the portable multi-water-quality meter "Mylana"】
✔ Covers the inspection items required for water quality testing
pH, electrical conductivity(EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), ion, and etc.

✔ Excellent value for money
Specifications can be selected according to the combination of required inspection items. The electrodes of the replaceable probe are made of plastic, which is easier to use and less fragile than glass. Running costs can also be reduced.

✔ Compact and easy to use
While most of other manufacturers' portable types are relatively large, Mylana is small enough to be used outdoors easily. The new digital probe makes measurement easy.

We can also offer other instruments to suit the applications, such as the "X Series" Benchtop water quality analyzer that can check more detailed inspection items and water quality trends, the "WQC-40" that is portable but can test multiple items at once, and the “CM-31P-W”, a portable electrical conductivity meter for pure water.

Up to two of the multiple inspection items can be tested at the same time, and the large touch panel can display water quality trends in graphs.

■ Portable multi-parameter water quality meter "WQC-40"
A single unit can test up to 9 items. Capable of handling water depths of up to 100 m, it is ideal for environmental measurements in rivers and lakes, as well as for water quality control at factories and aquaculture farms.

Portable electrical conductivity meter (for pure water)
The electrical conductivity and electrical resistivity in the pure water range can be measured with high accuracy using a dedicated flow-type cell.

Educating people about regular maintenance and correct usage

In Thailand, there are many sites where water quality meters have not been maintenance or calibrated for 3 to 5 years since they were purchased. While it is easy to use, it is difficult to visually identify malfunctions, so it is our important role as local distributors to convey the correct usage and knowledge. In order to ensure accurate water quality testing, we will also actively raise awareness of regular maintenance, such as replacing probe parts and changing internal fluids.

"DKK-TOA started operating a representative office in Thailand in February 2024 for the purpose of providing prompt technical support to local customers who are already using our products and sales support to local distributors such as Nihon Denkei," says Mr. Fujimoto of DKK-TOA.
