Mitsui Grinding technology Indonesia Representative Office Opened! Expanding Service Support and Developing New Markets

22/04/2024
Hiroyuki Uchiyama
Chief Representative

Mitsui Grinding Technology (Thailand) opened a representative office in Indonesia in September 2023. Up until now, we have been providing our Indonesian customers with proposals and technical supports on business trip basis. With the opening of this new office, we are now able to provide support to our Indonesian customers from a location closer to them, making it easier for them to consult with us about even trivial matters.

Focusing on providing full local service support and developing new markets

The establishment of the representative office has two main objectives

1. Expansion of service support for existing customers
We have established a system that enables us to respond more promptly to customer requests and consultations. In the rare event of a quality issue, direct support from the manufacturer can lead to a quicker resolution and help build trust with customers.

In addition, being able to communicate immediately in person is very important in the careful listening to our customers, which we always place great importance on. Grinding wheels are a one-of-a-kind product that depends on the combination of "material to be ground," "grinding tool (blade)," and "machining conditions," so the experience and know-how accumulated by each manufacturer is crucial. We believe that providing the optimal solution for the grinding wheel required by our customers in the shortest possible process is the added value and role of Mitsui Grinding Technology. Close communication with our customers directly leads to better grinding wheel manufacturing and development. In this sense, we would like you to feel free to contact us regardless of the size of your problem.

2. Cultivation of new markets and customers
Last year, we exhibited at "Manufacturing Indonesia 2023" by borrowing a booth of a trading company. While recognition of the Mitsui Grinding brand in the local market was still low, we were able to sense the broad potential for growth in fields that we can cultivate in the future.

We are now actively promoting our products to a wide range of trading companies, both Japanese and local. Thankfully, the number of trading companies that are willing to handle our products is increasing. In the Indonesian market, there are still very few manufacturers who can make custom-made grinding wheels through communication that satisfy customers' needs, and this is the main reason why our company's responsiveness and technical capabilities are highly evaluated.

Providing high-quality grinding wheels through integrated manufacturing and sales in cooperation with Thai plant

We have been increasing our achievements in the field of grinding wheels for automotive parts, including in Thailand. In the future, we would like to actively approach the following fields, including primary industries in the local area, to further gain market share.

・Industrial blades (for wood, tires, etc.)
・Roller parts (rolls for steel, non-ferrous, rubber, paper, resin, printing, etc.)
・Blades for food and grain processing equipment (rice milling / flour milling)
・Medical equipment ・Aerospace, etc.

In cooperation with our manufacturing plant in Thailand, we will be expanding our achievements in the Southeast Asian market for grinding wheels and focus on developing products that meet customer demand by maximizing the strengths of our integrated manufacturing and sales organization.

"From my perspective as an Indonesian, I am convinced that the presence of the MGT office will enable us to provide faster technical support and appropriate solutions, which will greatly contribute to our customers' improvement activities," says Mr. Ihsan.

Currently, we are providing supports to customers with a team consisting of two members: one Japanese sales engineer and one Indonesian, both proficient in their respective languages. We aim to become a total solution partner for grinding wheels in Indonesia and strive to provide meticulous services with a focus on on-site support.
