At the painting factory of Company A, more than 10 kg of iron powder flowed into the tank per day during the normal process. The amount of iron powder collected is about 2.5 kg per day, and a large amount of iron powder remains in the system. This iron powder gets mixed with the spray and the cleaning water in the tank and re-adheres to the product during the cleaning process, causing defects in the subsequent processes.

■ Implementation and effects

Filstars are installed in each process from cleaning to degreasing. By increasing the iron powder removal capacity, the remaining iron powder in the tank is removed to prevent re-adhesion of the iron powder to the product. In addition, it is designed so that the removed iron powder does not flow out to the subsequent process.

As a result, we have succeeded in halving the number of tank maintenances from 20 times a month to 10 times a month.
